AerFin has taken delivery of a second Boeing 777-300ER previously operated by Japan Airlines (JAL), marking the company’s third acquisition of this aircraft type and strengthening its position in the widebody market.
The aircraft will be disassembled in the United States, with its components carefully removed and refurbished to provide high-quality serviceable material that will support AerFin’s extensive global customer base and contribute to the ongoing availability of spare parts.
Auvinash Narayen, Chief Investment Officer at AerFin, said this latest acquisition underlines the company’s long-term commitment to supporting airline customers in the Asia Pacific region by ensuring access to sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
He explained that by extending the operational life of these high-value assets, AerFin is helping airlines to reduce their overall costs while also strengthening their supply chains, which is becoming increasingly important as the industry seeks to improve resilience and reliability.
Narayen also emphasised that AerFin is proud to collaborate closely with its partners on this project and looks forward to continuing to build trusted and long-lasting partnerships across the region.
This acquisition also reflects AerFin’s broader strategy to proactively address the rising global demand for Boeing 777 material, especially for the 777-300ER, which remains one of the most widely used and dependable variants in service.
According to Narayen, the 777-300ER is not expected to retire at the same pace as the older 777-200 or 777-300 variants, which are gradually being phased out.
He noted that while many legacy 777 aircraft are nearing the end of their operational lives, the 300ER represents a different proposition entirely, as it has proved itself to be a reliable and efficient workhorse with many years of service still ahead.
