GOAL completes sale-and-leaseback deal with Porter Airlines for E195-E2 jets

GOAL Aircraft Leasing (GOAL) has successfully finalised a sale-and-leaseback transaction with Porter Airlines for four Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, marking a significant step in the Canadian carrier's expansion across North America. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery throughout 2025 and will be integrated into Porter's growing fleet to support its expanding network.

The deal was conducted in collaboration with funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group, with Ashland Place Finance providing the debt financing for both GOAL and Fortress. As part of the agreement, GOAL and Fortress have also established a servicing agreement for the aircraft, ensuring a coordinated and streamlined leasing process.

Porter Airlines continues to build momentum, with 46 E195-E2s already delivered from a firm order of 75, and a further 25 aircraft on option. The E195-E2 is central to Porter's all-economy product strategy, offering enhanced efficiency and a spacious cabin layout that supports its mission of delivering a high-quality travel experience.

Julian Low, Vice President of Corporate Development at Porter Airlines, underlined the aircraft's importance in delivering strong operational performance since its introduction in 2023. He praised the aircraft's role in exceeding financial and efficiency targets and expressed enthusiasm about strengthening ties with GOAL, while welcoming Fortress and Ashland Place as new strategic partners.

This partnership not only demonstrates confidence in Porter's business model but also reflects continued investor interest in modern, fuel-efficient regional aircraft as carriers look to optimise operations amid a dynamic aviation landscape.
