Textron Aviation advances CJ4 Gen3 programme

Textron Aviation has reached a key stage in the development of the Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen3, with the successful maiden flight of its second flight test aircraft, known as P1. This marks a substantial step forward in the business jet's certification campaign, which aims to bring the updated model into service by 2026.

The flight, piloted by James Bearman and Corey Eckhart, lasted three hours and 29 minutes. It reached a cruising altitude of 45,000 feet and a top speed of 305 knots. The test primarily focused on avionics and systems evaluations, with further trials planned to assess interiors and human factors. According to the crew, the aircraft performed in line with expectations, providing a smooth and uneventful flight.
