SMBC Aviation Capital and Arajet sign 737 MAX 8 SLB agreement

SMBC Aviation Capital has announced a sale-and-leaseback (SLB) agreement with Arajet for five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled across 2026 and 2027. This strategic agreement represents a significant milestone for both parties, as Arajet continues to expand its fleet and SMBC Aviation Capital reinforces its role as a key global player in the aircraft leasing sector.?

Arajet, the flag carrier of the Dominican Republic, commenced operations in 2022 and has rapidly established itself as the Caribbean's first ultra-low-cost airline. Operating from hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, the airline serves over 20 destinations across North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Arajet's fleet comprises ten Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with additional orders in place to support its growth strategy. ?

The addition of these new aircraft through the SLB agreement will bolster Arajet's capacity to offer affordable and efficient air travel, aligning with its mission to enhance connectivity throughout the Americas. For SMBC Aviation Capital, this deal underscores its commitment to providing tailored leasing solutions that meet the evolving needs of its clients, further solidifying its position in the global aviation leasing market.
