Abra Group picks CFM LEAP engines for 50 more A320neos

CFM International has secured an order from Abra Group to supply LEAP-1A engines for 50 previously unallocated Airbus A320neo-family aircraft destined for Avianca, strengthening a long-term partnership that also extends support to GOL’s Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

The agreement covers the remaining 50 aircraft in Avianca’s 134-aircraft A320neo-family order and includes a comprehensive services package featuring spare engines and long-term maintenance support. The long-term services agreement will also cover GOL’s fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

“These agreements reinforce our position as the region’s largest operator of CFM-powered aircraft, driving reliability, cost predictability, fuel efficiency and performance across our airlines,” said Adrian Neuhauser, Chief Executive Officer of Abra Group.

Once all aircraft are delivered, Avianca’s A320neo-family fleet and GOL’s 737 MAX fleet will bring Abra Group’s installed base of LEAP-powered aircraft to more than 650, including aircraft in service and on order. Combined with the group’s existing fleet of 176 CFM56-powered aircraft, the latest commitment further cements Abra Group’s position as CFM’s largest operator in Latin America.
