Airbus Helicopters secures major orders for new H140 helicopter

Airbus Helicopters has announced significant agreements with leading emergency medical services (EMS) operators for its newly unveiled H140 helicopter. ADAC Luftrettung, ÖAMTC Flugrettung, and Global Medical Response (GMR) have all committed to acquiring the latest aircraft, strengthening their fleets with advanced aeromedical capabilities.

Under the agreement, ADAC Luftrettung and ÖAMTC Flugrettung will each receive five H140 helicopters, making them among the launch customers for the model. The deal also includes ADAC Luftrettung's acquisition of three H135 helicopters and one H145. The announcement was made at the vertical lift industry show, VERTICON, in Dallas, Texas, where Airbus introduced the new H140.

Additionally, Global Medical Response (GMR) has signed an agreement for up to 15 H140 helicopters, with an initial order of ten and options for five more. As one of the largest Airbus helicopter operators in North America, GMR continues to expand its fleet to support critical air medical transport missions. This latest order follows GMR's previous purchase of 28 Airbus helicopters announced in November 2024. With these acquisitions, GMR's total fleet will approach 200 Airbus helicopters, further solidifying its position as a leader in the air medical industry.

Furthermore, Air Methods, the prominent U.S. air medical provider, is expanding its fleet with the addition of new Airbus helicopters. The agreement includes the acquisition of H140 helicopters, as well as ten H125s and 11 H135s, to support air medical missions across the country. As the largest civil operator of Airbus helicopters worldwide, Air Methods operates a vast fleet of Airbus models, including the H125, H130, H135 and H145.

The H140 multi-mission helicopter raises the bar in the light twin-engine category, for performance, cost-effectiveness and passenger and crew comfort. The H140 is a three-tonne class rotorcraft that complements Airbus Helicopters' current light twin offering for the emergency medical services, passenger transport and private and business aviation markets. The entry into service of the helicopter is planned in 2028 for the emergency medical services segment.

The new agreements highlight the strong demand for Airbus's new H140 in the EMS sector, as operators seek modern, efficient, and reliable helicopters to enhance their life-saving mission.
